Java Technical Lead - FX Platform - Investment Bank

London-based | £110,000-£130,000 base + bonus

The Role:
This is a hands-on Technical Lead role sitting on a global FX platform that underpins Real Time rate delivery to clients across multiple regions. The business is investing heavily, expanding into new markets and product areas, and needs someone who can shape the technical direction while still staying close to the code.

You will operate at the centre of engineering, product, and architecture, taking ownership of how the platform evolves as volumes scale and product complexity grows.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Drive architectural decisions across a distributed, Real Time platform
• Lead delivery of new product features and regional expansion initiatives
• Work closely with product and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Set engineering standards across design, testing, and code quality
• Support production releases and ongoing platform stability
• Mentor developers through reviews, pairing, and technical guidance

What You Bring:

• Strong background building and evolving distributed systems in a regulated environment
• Deep Java engineering capability, with solid experience across modern frameworks
• Experience working on high-availability platforms where latency and scale matter
• Good understanding of messaging patterns, APIs, and relational databases
• Exposure to modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and test-driven development
• Domain understanding of FX products such as spot and forwards is helpful but not essential

The Package:
£110,000-£130,000 base salary plus bonus and a strong benefits package including pension, private healthcare, and flexible working. Hybrid working is in place, with a London base.
