Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on innovative products from concept through to production? We are partnering with an exciting audio technology company in Kent that is expanding its engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in developing high-volume consumer products, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team of Mechanical, Electronics, Firmware and Manufacturing Engineers.
The RoleYou will take ownership of mechanical product development throughout the full product life cycle, from a blank sheet of paper through concept generation, detailed design, prototyping, validation and into high-volume manufacture. You'll work closely with Electronics, Firmware, Technicians and Manufacturing teams to ensure products are innovative, reliable and designed for efficient production while maintaining ISO quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for new audio products.
- Lead projects through the complete product life cycle, from concept to production.
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation.
- Design plastic components for injection moulding and high-volume manufacture.
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles throughout the design process.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate mechanical, electronic and firmware requirements.
- Support prototype builds, testing, design verification and product improvement activities.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant ISO quality processes and engineering standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical product design.
- Experience delivering products through the full product development life cycle.
- Strong knowledge of injection moulded plastic design.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD.
- Experience producing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture for high-volume production.
- Strong communication skills and experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge or appreciation of EMC considerations in product design.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques, including 3D printing.
- Previous experience developing consumer electronic or audio products.
