Canning Line Operative

Location: Bedford

Insight Employment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing and warehousing business based in Bedford, for an experienced Canning Line Operative to join their production team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the canning line, maintaining quality standards, and supporting production targets while adhering to strict food safety and health & safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities: -

* Monitor conveyor belts and canning line equipment to ensure products meet quality standards.

* Inspect cans and bottles for defects, reporting any issues promptly.

* Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the production process.

* Operate production machinery safely and efficiently.

* Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance as required.

* Follow all company procedures relating to food safety, quality control, and health & safety.

* Support the wider production team to achieve daily production targets.

Skills & Experience Required: -

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Previous experience working on a canning line or within a fast-paced food production/manufacturing environment.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

* Good understanding of health & safety procedures within a production setting.

* The ability to stand for extended periods and undertake manual handling duties, including lifting up to 40 lbs.

* Counterbalance forklift experience is preferred but not essential. Candidates with either an in-date or expired Counterbalance licence will be considered, as refresher training can be provided on-site.

Working Hours: -

This role is based on a 39-hour working week, operating on a rotating three-shift pattern:

06:00am – 14:00pm

14:00pm – 22:00pm

22:00pm – 06:00am
