Quantity Surveyor

Are you an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to develop your career with a well-established civil engineering contractor? We are seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our Aberdeen team, working on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account, while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered commercially, safely and efficiently. The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of projects, helping to control costs, maximise value and ensure successful project delivery. You will work closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities and cash flow forecasts.

Carry out cost analysis and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Develop budgets and cost plans in line with client requirements.

Perform cost control, value engineering and risk management.

Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

Prepare and evaluate tender submissions.

Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations.

Prepare subcontract documentation and manage subcontractor accounts.

Assist with contractual claims and commercial negotiations.

Produce interim valuations, variations and final accounts.

Monitor project costs and prepare regular commercial reports.

Maintain document control systems and commercial records.

Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams.

Ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial management systems.

Utilise software including Excel, Word, Microsoft Project and industry-specific estimating systems.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within construction or civil engineering.

Strong understanding of the commercial lifecycle of construction projects.

Excellent cost management and commercial reporting skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

A proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.

Desirable

Around 3 years' experience within Quantity Surveying or Estimating.

Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
