Location: Liverpool, L7.
Salary: £14.93 per hour.
Full Time – Monday to Friday – 35 hours.
Contract: Up to October 2026 – possibly beyond.
Job Purpose
To provide a professional and welcoming reception service at the Liverpool Youth Justice Service Office, ensuring visitors, staff, and partner agencies receive an efficient and courteous service. The role also provides essential business support through administrative tasks, accurate data entry, and general office support to help ensure the effective operation of the service.
Key Responsibilities
Reception Duties
Act as the first point of contact for visitors, service users, and partner agencies, providing a professional and friendly reception service.
Welcome visitors and ensure appropriate sign-in and security procedures are followed.
Answer incoming telephone calls, respond to enquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate team members.
Manage meeting room bookings and notify staff of visitor arrivals.
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries.
Maintain a tidy, safe, and welcoming reception area.
Business Support and Administration
Accurately input and maintain information on relevant databases and case management systems.
Provide general administrative support, including filing, scanning, photocopying, and document preparation.
Assist with the processing and distribution of correspondence, reports, and other documentation.
Maintain electronic and paper records in accordance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Support the scheduling of meetings, appointments, and diary management where required.
Assist with the monitoring and updating of administrative records and performance information.
Order and monitor office supplies as required.
General Responsibilities
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and in accordance with GDPR and Liverpool City Council policies.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the effective delivery of the Youth Justice Service.
Maintain high standards of customer service at all times.
Comply with all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, and equality policies.
Undertake any other reasonable administrative duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

Essential
Previous experience in a reception, customer service, or administrative role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
Accurate data entry and attention to detail.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Professional, approachable, and customer-focused manner.
Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.
Desirable
Experience working within a local authority, public sector, or youth justice environment.
Experience using electronic case management or records management systems.
Knowledge of safeguarding principles and working with vulnerable children and young people.
