Maintenance Engineer

Location: Plymouth
Salary: £44,660pa
Shifts: Alternating shifts - 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring machinery and equipment operate at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns efficiently
Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on plant and machinery
Install, commission, and support new and existing equipment
Support continuous improvement, identifying and resolving repeat issues
Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records and stock information
Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
Assist with machinery moves and site improvements
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, including risk assessments
Support TPM initiatives across the site
Communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and contractors
Provide guidance to apprentices or new starters where required

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

A completed Maintenance Apprenticeship or relevant qualifications
Experience working with CNC machinery
Strong fault-finding skills, ideally with Fanuc control systems and PLCs
Understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices
Good IT and communication skills
A proactive, team-focused approachDesirable:

IOSH certification
Specific machine tool knowledge
Leadership or mentoring experience
