About the Role
Peterborough City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Supervising Social Worker to join its Fostering Service. This is an excellent opportunity to support foster carers and contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people in care.
Location: Sand Martin House, Peterborough (1 day per week in the office)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £39 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise a caseload of up to 15 fostering households.
Undertake monthly supervision visits with foster carers, providing guidance, support, and professional challenge where required.
Attend and contribute to a range of professional meetings, including:
Child Care Reviews
Placement Planning Meetings
Foster Carer Reviews
Multi-agency meetings
Complete annual foster carer reviews and associated reports.
Participate in the fostering service duty rota, supporting the Placement Team as required.
Undertake fostering-related checks, assessments, and risk assessments to ensure safe and effective placements.
Work collaboratively with Children's Social Work Teams, Education Services, and Clinical Professionals to support placement stability and promote positive outcomes for children.
Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with statutory requirements and fostering regulations.
Provide ongoing support, advice, and guidance to foster carers to enhance their skills and confidence in meeting children's needs.Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Experience working within a Fostering Service as a Supervising Social Worker.
Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, safeguarding practices, and childcare legislation.
Excellent assessment, report writing, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.Benefits
