We're recruiting for an experienced Senior / Site Manager to join a major wastewater treatment project at Bishop Auckland Wastewater Treatment Works, with works due to commence in August.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term water infrastructure scheme, taking ownership of site delivery from the early stages of the project through to commissioning.

The Role

You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the client and delivery teams, you'll play a key role in driving the project through every stage of its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the full project lifecycle from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and design through to construction and commissioning.

* Develop robust project plans, defining scope, technical requirements, and delivery strategies.

* Lead site teams, engineers, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.

* Manage reinforced concrete, shaft sinking, and complex civil engineering activities.

* Control project budgets, monitor costs, and produce accurate forecasts.

* Administer NEC4 contracts, managing variations, compensation events, and change control.

* Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining programme milestones.

* Ensure full compliance with health & safety, environmental legislation, and UK water industry regulations.

* Act as the key point of contact between the client, contractors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.

* Carry out site inspections and quality checks to ensure works are delivered to specification.

* Maintain strong working relationships with Costain, ensuring all delivery aligns with their procedures and project standards.

About You

We're looking to speak with candidates who have:

* Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager or Site Manager within the water or heavy civil engineering sector.

* Previous experience delivering wastewater treatment works or major water infrastructure projects.

* Strong background in reinforced concrete works and shaft sinking.

* Experience working within a Northumbrian Water environment.

* Good working knowledge of NEC contracts, project planning, and commercial management.

* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop site teams.

* A proactive approach to problem solving, risk management, and project delivery.

* SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications (preferred).

Salary & Benefits

* £65,000 - £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)

* Competitive benefits package

* Long-term, secure project with work commencing in August

* Opportunity to work on a flagship wastewater infrastructure scheme

* Career progression with a leading contractor in the UK water sector
