Customs Clerk - Dover - Up to £35,000

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Customs Clerk to join their growing customs team in Dover. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a solid background in customs brokerage who is looking to develop their career within a busy and professional freight forwarding environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing customs declarations, ensuring compliance with UK customs regulations, and providing a high standard of service to customers. The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced customs operation.

Location: Dover
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £28,000-£35,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Performance-Related Bonus

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and submit import, export and transit customs declarations.
Ensure customs entries are completed accurately and in compliance with UK customs regulations.
Process customs documentation efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Work closely with customers, hauliers and internal departments to ensure the smooth movement of shipments.
Resolve customs-related queries promptly and professionally.
Maintain accurate customs records and documentation.
Ensure all customs activities comply with HMRC legislation and company procedures.
Support the wider customs team during busy operational periods.
Deliver a high level of customer service while meeting operational deadlines.
Participate in a remote on-call rota covering one weekend per month.

Skills & Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience within customs brokerage.
Good knowledge of UK customs procedures and regulations.
Experience preparing and submitting import, export and transit customs declarations.
Good working knowledge of CargoWise.
Fast and accurate typing skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing customs entries.
Ability to work efficiently within a busy customs environment.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
