We are supporting a manufacturing business with the recruitment of an Engineering Manager. This is a key leadership role focused on enhancing operational performance through strong engineering direction and continuous improvement. The Engineering Manager will play a central role in improving productivity, efficiency, and capacity, while ensuring consistent delivery against Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive the development of robust, scalable processes and support the successful introduction of new products and equipment into production, while also building team capability and embedding practices that enable sustainable growth.
Engineering Manager
Salary - £65,000
Location - Dorset
Responsibilities
Lead and develop the engineering team to achieve business objectives.
Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Analyse performance data to identify and implement improvements.
Support capacity planning and resource optimisation.
Improve production workflows, layouts, and processes.
Ensure clear documentation, standard work, and operating procedures are in place.
Support new product introduction and ensure smooth production readiness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability and performance.
Monitor and improve key operational metrics (e.g., efficiency, throughput).
Identify and support investment and improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Manage projects to agreed timelines and budgets.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement.Requirements
Degree in Engineering or a related field.
Experience in a manufacturing or production engineering leadership role.
Experience with CAD/CAM tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
Strong understanding of production processes and planning.
Proven track record in continuous improvement.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Experience leading teams and managing stakeholders.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and standard business tools.
Experience in complex or precision manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of automation or digital manufacturing technologies, or Industry 4.0 is desirable
