With continued investment in technology, automation and operational excellence, they are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the appointment of a Packing Process Engineer.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving manufacturing performance and driving continuous improvement within a highly regulated production environment.
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and Projects teams, you'll be responsible for optimising packing processes, improving equipment performance, reducing waste and supporting the delivery of world-class manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive process improvements across packing and production operations.
* Develop and maintain process parameters to maximise efficiency, quality and output.
* Analyse downtime, process failures, packaging losses and quality issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, waste reduction and operational performance.
* Work alongside Maintenance teams to improve preventative maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
* Lead and support problem-solving activities across production lines.
* Participate in equipment upgrades, automation projects and new technology implementation.
* Conduct packaging and process trials for new materials and products.
* Support HACCP activities and ensure compliance with quality and food/pharmaceutical safety standards.
* Deliver training and coaching to production operators and engineers.
* Utilise production data and performance systems to drive operational improvements.
About You
We're looking for a hands-on engineer with a passion for process improvement and manufacturing excellence.
Essential Requirements
* Engineering qualification (HND, Degree, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent).
* Alternatively, a time-served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with recognised qualifications.
* Experience within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, FMCG, food, packaging or process environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Strong understanding of continuous improvement methodologies.
* Safety-first mindset with a proactive approach to risk management.
* Comfortable analysing data and identifying performance improvement opportunities.
Desirable Experience
* Statistical Process Control (SPC).
* Process Capability Analysis.
* Control Charts and Quality Tools.
* PDCA and structured problem-solving methodologies.
* Root Cause Analysis tools including 5W+1H and 4M Analysis.
* Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
* Error Proofing / Poka-Yoke methodologies.
* Process validation and experimentation
