Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist primary setting in Rochdale.

This is a full-time, long-term temporary role from September 2026.

The school supports pupils aged 3-11 with a wide range of complex needs including Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, sensory needs and severe learning difficulties. Due to the needs of the pupils, previous experience working within a SEND school or specialist provision is essential. Applications from candidates without relevant SEND experience will not be considered.

The Role

Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant in a specialist primary setting
Supporting pupils with complex SEMH and SEND needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
Managing behaviour, emotions and regulation strategies to support learning
Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff
Supporting EHCP targets and individual learning plans
Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils who can present with challenging behaviour
Recording progress, incidents and interventions where requiredThe School

Specialist primary provision based in Rochdale
Well-resourced setting with excellent facilities and supportive leadership
Caters for pupils with complex Autism, SEMH, communication and learning needs
Strong focus on therapeutic support, emotional regulation and personalised learning
Easily accessible by car and public transportTo be considered, you must:

Have recent experience supporting children or young people in a SEND school or specialist provision
Have experience supporting pupils with complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
Be confident working in high-needs environments
Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
Provide a full employment and education history with references
Have the legal right to work in the UKBy registering with Tradewind, you will benefit from:
