Location: Derby (Hybrid, 2 to 3 office days per week)

Start Date: August 2026

Contract Length: 5 Months (with scope to extend)

We are supporting a public sector client in hiring a Data Modeller with specialist knowledge of the Unified Architecture Framework to join a complex engineering and enterprise architecture programme.

This is a hands-on data modelling role requiring the ability to work across enterprise and solution architecture teams, translating business, operational and technical requirements into well-structured conceptual, logical and physical data models. The successful candidate will apply UAF principles within a complex, regulated environment and contribute to the ongoing development and governance of the data architecture estate.

This role suits an experienced Data Modeller with proven UAF expertise, comfortable working alongside architects, engineers and business stakeholders in a complex, security-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned to programme and enterprise architecture standards
  • Apply Unified Architecture Framework principles to data modelling activity, ensuring models are consistent with the broader architectural approach
  • Work closely with enterprise and solution architects to translate business, operational and technical requirements into structured data models
  • Contribute to data architecture governance, standards and documentation across the programme
  • Engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to validate data models and ensure alignment with business needs
  • Use architecture modelling tools and frameworks to produce clear, well-structured artefacts for review and approval
  • Support the integration of data models into wider system and enterprise architecture deliverables

Essential Skills

  • Strong data modelling expertise across conceptual, logical and physical model design
  • Practical knowledge and application of the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
  • Experience working with enterprise and solution architecture teams in complex delivery environments
  • Ability to translate business, operational and technical requirements into structured data models
  • Proficiency with architecture modelling tools and frameworks
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across both technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within defence, government, aerospace or highly regulated industry environments
  • Familiarity with related architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, MODAF or NAF
  • Experience contributing to data governance and architecture assurance processes
  • Exposure to complex engineering or systems integration programmes
