IT Project Manager

About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking Senior IT Project Managers to work for our global Systems Integrator client. This is initially a 6-month fixed term contract with very good prospects to extend. The role is hybrid with 2 days/week in Telford or Worthing/Hove.

We are seeking a number of experienced IT Project Managers delivery of large, complex IT and technology projects and programmes for a large end customer within the Public Sector.

You will provide strong leadership to multi-discipline and multi-supplier teams, foster a collaborative and high-performing culture, and engage with senior stakeholders to deliver value and drive continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to/lead specific initiatives within significant programmes of work.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of large and complex IT/technology projects and programmes, ensuring outcomes are delivered to agreed scope, quality, time, and budget.

* Provide strong leadership to multi‑discipline and multi‑supplier teams, motivating high performance within matrix delivery environments.

* Plan and control delivery by developing and maintaining robust project and programme plans, schedules, delivery rhythms, and dependency management.

* Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, and blockers, ensuring timely mitigation and resolution.

* Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders, to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful outcomes.

* Manage financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, value delivery, and change control across projects and programmes.

* Apply commercial and contractual expertise, contributing to commercial proposals and managing delivery across different contract models (e.g. fixed price, time and materials).

* Drive continuous improvement through agile delivery practices, lessons learned, high‑quality reporting, and a collaborative, inclusive team culture.

About You

* Proven experience delivering large, complex IT/technology projects or programmes within complex organisational environments.

* Demonstrated ability to manage end‑to‑end delivery across the full project or programme lifecycle.

* Strong understanding of agile delivery practices, project and programme management methodologies, and governance frameworks.

* Extensive experience working in matrix and multi‑supplier environments, coordinating diverse teams and dependencies.

* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.

* Proven leadership experience in motivating and guiding multi‑discipline teams to achieve high performance.

* Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, value management, and change control (including P&L accountability where applicable).

* Exceptional planning and risk management skills, with a track record of developing robust delivery plans and proactively managing risk.
