Chemical Process Engineer

The Opportunity:

A leading aerospace and advanced‑manufacturing business is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to take ownership of developing, optimising and controlling key chemical processes within a high‑compliance production environment. This is a hands‑on engineering role, ideal for graduates or early‑career engineers who want to apply real chemical engineering principles — including Chemical Process Engineering, PFMEA, Lean principles and Six Sigma — to live manufacturing processes.

You will work directly with production, process, quality and manufacturing engineering teams to improve process capability, reduce variation, and support the introduction of new chemical processes and equipment.

The Role:

Process optimisation — improving robustness, repeatability and long‑term stability of chemical processes using COSSH Chemicals.
Structured problem‑solving using Lean, PFMEA, root‑cause analysis and process control plans.
Chemical calculations and process modelling, including sodium and potassium hydroxide usage and reaction behaviour.
Supporting commissioning and qualification of new chemical equipment and process changes.
Monitoring and controlling incoming materials, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinating process trials, analysing data, and generating technical documentation to validate process parameters.
Working cross‑functionally with Product, Process and Manufacturing Engineers to resolve process‑related defects and drive continuous improvement
Preferred Skills:

Ideally you will hold a Masters in Chemical Engineering, or at least a BSc or HNC in Engineering.
Knowledge and Experience with Sodium and Potassium Hydroxide Chemicals.
If you’ve worked within a manufacturing or engineering business previously that would be beneficial, but recent graduates/post grads will be considered.
Strong understanding of chemical reactions, mass balance, and process calculations.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, process documentation, and engineering standards.
Knowledge of COSHH, EHS compliance, or controlled chemical environments is beneficial.
High level of computer literacy required. Confident with data analysis tools (Excel, PowerBI)
Hands‑on mindset with a practical approach to problem‑solving.Working Hours:
8.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday

Associated Benefits:
Competitive salary, day working (Mon-Fri) and a range of benefits including company bonus and an excellent pension scheme and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Progression is encouraged, as is professional development including support towards IChemE Chartership.

Meridian Business Support is a recruitment specialist acting on behalf of our client as an Employment Agency for this vacancy.
Please note that this specific role may be subject to export control restrictions, including under ITAR. Any offer of employment from this particular company will be conditional on the successful candidate meeting the applicable legal requirements for access to controlled information or technology
