Quality Inspector

Location: Greater Manchester (M27)

Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Condensed 4-day working week

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Inspector to join one of our key manufacturing clients based in Greater Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering business operating within the electronics and mechanical engineering sector.

We are keen to speak with candidates who have quality inspection experience within manufacturing, precision engineering, metalwork, defence, plastics, or electronics.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quality Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet customer specifications and the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:

Adhering to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Inspecting products against engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing standards.

Monitoring and auditing quality requirements in line with the company's Quality Management System and customer specifications.

Communicating effectively with production and engineering teams to ensure product compliance.

Conducting internal and external quality audits as defined within the audit programme.

Identifying, documenting, and reporting non-conformances.

Carrying out goods-in inspections of incoming materials and components.

Performing detailed in-process and final product inspections.

Maintaining the PTR database and ensuring inspection records are accurate and up to date.

Supporting KPI reporting, quality analysis, and continuous improvement activities.

Using the company's bespoke ERP system to track products, inspections, and services.

Maintaining and signing off the Quality Competency Matrix.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or technical background (NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent).

Previous quality inspection experience within a manufacturing, engineering, electronics, or precision engineering environment.

Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Experience inspecting mechanical or electronic assemblies to ensure compliance.

A good understanding of dimensional tolerances and engineering specifications.

The ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.

Competence in using standard inspection and measuring equipment.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but not essential:

Experience using FARO measuring systems.

Knowledge of quality standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 25001.

IPC-A-610 certification or previous IPC inspection training.
