Senior Stress Engineer – Contract Location: Chorley

Working Pattern: Hybrid working available (typically 2 days onsite, 2 days remote)

We're supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering complex mechanical handling, lifting and containment solutions within a highly regulated sector. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Stress Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary design team on a contract basis.
The role will focus on the production, review and approval of calculation and analysis reports, ensuring designs are robust, compliant and fit for purpose. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering leadership, designers and project teams to provide technical guidance and stress analysis expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Produce and supervise detailed stress calculations and analysis reports.
Undertake finite element analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations.
Check and approve calculations completed by other engineers.
Provide technical guidance to designers on manufacturability, material selection and design improvements.
Liaise with clients and subcontractors to define substantiation requirements.
Support additional analytical activities including thermal, fluid and operational assessments.
Develop improved calculation methodologies and engineering practices.What We're Looking For
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum five years' stress analysis experience.
Strong experience with both classical stress calculations and finite element analysis.
Knowledge of codes and standards including BS 2573, BS EN 13001 and relevant Structural Eurocodes.
Experience using ANSYS and Mathcad.
Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and communicate complex engineering concepts clearly.Desirable Experience
Chartered Engineer status, or working towards it.
Knowledge of BS EN 1090.
Nuclear industry experience.
Seismic analysis and assessment experience.
Autodesk Inventor experience.
Previous experience supervising engineers and reviewing technical work. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Stress Engineer seeking a technically challenging contract role, working on complex engineering projects within a collaborative and experienced team environment.
