Blue Arrow is proud to be working in partnership with a leading organisation within the metals recycling sector, who are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis at their site based in Matlock.
Our client plays a vital role in the sustainable recycling of lead-acid batteries and places its people, safety, and the environment at the heart of everything it does. 💷 £43,036.20 Basic Salary per annum
🌙 £9,094 Shift Allowance per annum
🎯 Annual Production Bonus - up to 10% of salary (following qualifying period)

✅ Followed by an impressive 18 consecutive days off
✅ Annual leave built into the shift pattern
✅ Two 45-minute breaks per shift
✅ Attendance at training on non-rostered days enables employees to bank up to 24 hours additional time off per year
🔧 What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Shift Maintenance Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a wide range of plant and equipment within a busy heavy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
🔧 Carry out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across a wide range of plant and equipment.
🔧 Undertake mechanical installations, breakdown repairs and general maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maximise plant reliability.
🔧 Complete Task Specific Risk Assessments and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all maintenance activities.
🔧 Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, permits to work and relevant legislation.
🔧 Safely isolate equipment and verify isolations prior to commencing maintenance work.
🔧 Identify and report issues that may impact the safe, efficient or reliable operation of plant and equipment.
🔧 Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards and ensure work areas are left clean, safe and organised.
🔧 Use PPE, tools, lifting equipment and company vehicles correctly and safely at all times.
🔧 Accurately book parts from stores and apply appropriate cost codes.
🔧 Support and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and Energy policies.
🔧 Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and site performance.

✔ Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
✔ Previous experience working within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or process environment
✔ Strong mechanical maintenance, fault-finding and repair skills
✔ Good understanding of safe isolation, permit-to-work systems and maintenance best practice
✔ Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility
✔ Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative maintenance team
