£45,000 basic | £50,000+ OTE (overtime & call-outs)

Tired of the same dealership routine or constant roadside breakdowns?
This is a rare opportunity to work airside at Birmingham Airport, maintaining and repairing a wide range of specialist vehicles used in aviation operations. You’ll gain experience on unique equipment in a structured, safety-focused environment — with full training provided.
HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic What You’ll Be Working On
* Aircraft towing tractors & tugs
* Baggage handling equipment
* Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
* Specialist airport vehicles
A varied role combining mechanical, hydraulic and electrical work — ideal for technicians who want something different from standard HGV work.
HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic The Role
* Diagnostics, fault finding & repairs
* Servicing and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
* Inspections, brake & smoke testing
* Completing job cards and inspection reports
* Liaising with parts/stores and workshop control
* Maintaining high health & safety standards
Call-Outs & Overtime
* No call-outs during initial period
* Structured rota introduced once established
* Currently 1 in 4, reducing to 1 in 6 as team grows
* Covers Birmingham & East Midlands Airport
East Midlands call-outs are very low volume (approx. 6 per year)
Majority of call-out work is on-site at Birmingham Airport
No long-distance roadside breakdowns
* Enhanced rates paid for call-outs and overtime
HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic What You’ll Need
* NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
* 3+ years’ experience (HGV, plant, PSV or similar)
* Strong diagnostic skills
* HGV licence (desirable, not essential)
* Able to pass 5-year employment history check (airport requirement)
HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic What’s On Offer
£45,000 basic salary Realistic £50,000+ earnings with overtime & call-outs
Enhanced overtime rates
Flexible shift patterns (4 on / 4 off or Mon–Fri)
