Electrical Estimator
South Birmingham (Office Based)
Up to £75,000 + Car Allowance + Profit Share
I'm working with a well-established electrical contractor south of Birmingham who've been designing and installing commercial electrical systems for major construction and fit-out projects for the best part of 30 years. They work on schemes ranging from a few hundred thousand pounds right up to £15m, delivering design-and-build projects for some genuinely recognisable end users and main contractors. It's a business with a strong family feel, low staff turnover, and a reputation in the industry for doing things properly rather than cutting corners.
They're now looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join the team on a permanent basis, fully office based in Bromsgrove.
The Role
Producing electrical tenders for commercial construction and fit-out projects with values up to £15m
Interpreting design-intent drawings and specifications to create cost-effective, profit-driven electrical designs and tender returns
Analysing projects to establish the cost of labour, materials, prelims and overheads
Obtaining and negotiating best prices from suppliers and subcontractors
Checking the accuracy of subcontractor designs
Liaising directly with clients, architects, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process
Carrying out site surveys where required
Producing schedules of rates and bills of quantities
Identifying value-engineering opportunities
Taking part in and presenting at pre-selection meetings with clientsAbout You
Minimum of 5 years' estimating experience on commercial design-and-build projects
Electrical engineering qualification (BTEC ONC, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent)
18th Edition qualified
Experience estimating for sites with both HV and LV requirements
Comfortable working with MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook
Experience with electrical estimating software such as Cypher, or similar
Strong numeracy, literacy and attention to detail with a methodical approach
Good communication and negotiation skills, confident presenting and explaining designs
Well organised, able to multi-task and comfortable working to deadlinesThe Business
This is a business that's built its name on quality and reliability rather than being the biggest name in the market. They've got an enviable safety record, hold a strong spread of accreditations, and have recently achieved carbon neutral status as part of a genuine, ongoing sustainability push. Staff retention is high and it's a place people tend to stay and build long careers, with several of the current team having come up through the business over many years.
On package, there's real flexibility here. The advertised salary is up to £75,000 depending on what you bring to the table. On top of salary, you'll get a car allowance and access to a profit share scheme once you've completed your first year.
If this sounds like the kind of role and business you'd want to be part of, drop me a message and we can have a proper chat about it.
Calibre Search promote equality in the workplace and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their sex, race, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age. We act as both an employment agency and employment business
