Building Regulations Principal Designer
A well-established, multi-disciplinary construction consultancy with a growing Manchester presence is now seeking an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer to join their expanding Building Safety and Compliance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Regulations Principal Designer to take on a client-facing role, working primarily across residential Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), supporting clients, developers and design teams through the requirements of the Building Safety Act and the new building regulations dutyholder regime.
The successful Building Regulations Principal Designer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of complex residential schemes, helping ensure that design information is coordinated, compliant and suitably evidenced from early design stages through to Gateway submissions and project completion.
The Building Regulations Principal Designer's Role
The Building Regulations Principal Designer will provide Principal Designer services under the Building Regulations, working closely with clients, architects, design teams, project managers and wider consultants on residential HRB schemes.
You will be responsible for reviewing design information against the Building Regulations and Approved Documents, identifying compliance risks, chairing design and compliance workshops, and advising clients on their duties under the Building Safety Act.
The Building Regulations Principal Designer will support Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 processes, helping to prepare, review and manage the necessary evidence, design coordination information and compliance documentation required for residential Higher-Risk Buildings.
This role would suit a technically strong Building Regulations Principal Designer with experience in residential, high-rise or complex building projects, who is confident advising clients and design teams on building regulations compliance.
The Building Regulations Principal Designer
The successful Building Regulations Principal Designer will ideally have:
A background as an Architect, Architectural Technologist, Design Manager, Building Control professional or Principal Designer
Experience working on residential, high-rise or Higher-Risk Building projects
Strong knowledge of the Building Regulations and Approved Documents
A good understanding of the Building Safety Act, dutyholder responsibilities and Gateway processes
Experience reviewing technical design information for compliance
Confidence chairing design team meetings, compliance workshops and client meetings
RIBA, CABE, CIOB, RICS or similar professional membership would be beneficial
Strong communication, organisation and report writing skills
A proactive, detail-focused and client-facing approachIn Return
