We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Solutions Officer to join our client's Housing & Communities team in Nuneaton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in homelessness prevention, housing advice, and statutory housing duties to make a real difference within the local community.

The Role

As a Housing Solutions Officer, you will play a key role in preventing homelessness, delivering high-quality housing advice, and ensuring the Council meets its statutory responsibilities under homelessness legislation. Working within a busy team, you will provide practical housing solutions while supporting customers at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver and review service standards, quality measures, and performance targets within Housing Solutions and Homelessness Services.

* Prevent homelessness by providing advice, guidance, and practical housing solutions.

* Manage the Housing Register and allocate homes through the Choice Based Lettings system.

* Develop and maintain strong relationships with private landlords, letting agents, and partner organisations.

* Assess and administer statutory duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including Prevention, Relief, and Main Housing Duty.

* Carry out comprehensive customer assessments and develop Personal Housing and Wellbeing Plans.

* Support customers to take appropriate steps to prevent homelessness wherever possible.

* Identify and secure suitable housing options for homeless households or those threatened with homelessness.

* Liaise with landlords, agents, and internal colleagues to arrange tenancy agreements, rent deposits, and rent-in-advance through Council prevention schemes.

* Maintain accurate case records using the Council's IT systems.

* Deliver training and guidance to partner agencies regarding Housing Solutions services.

* Manage rent accounts for customers placed in temporary accommodation.

* Arrange placements into temporary accommodation, ensuring suitability through appropriate risk assessments.

* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

* Build effective working relationships with internal teams, external agencies, and customers.

* Prepare reports, statistical returns, and correspondence relating to homelessness prevention.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about helping people sustain or secure accommodation and has a solid understanding of housing legislation.

Essential Requirements

* Recent experience working within a public sector housing or housing-related environment.

* Experience managing homelessness prevention casework, including benefit and money advice.

* Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, particularly the Homelessness Act 2002 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

* Understanding of current housing issues and challenges in meeting housing need.

* Ability to interpret legislation and policies with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgement.

* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload and work to tight deadlines.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

* Competent IT skills and experience maintaining accurate case records.

* Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
