Role Overview
Support a young person in his early 20s who has learning disabilities and may present challenging behaviour. The Support Worker will promote independence, safety, and positive outcomes through daily person-centred support within a caring home environment.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide day-to-day support to the individual, including personal care, daily living tasks, and community access.
*
Support positive behaviour strategies and respond to challenging behaviour in line with agreed plans and risk assessments.
*
Encourage independence and skill development appropriate to the individual’s needs.
*
Support routines at home and during activities, maintaining a calm, respectful approach.
*
Makaton to communicate would be ideal but not essential.
*
Work on a rota basis, including evenings/weekends as required, supporting full-time hours.
*
Work comfortably in a home environment with pets (dogs and a cat).
*
Support safe participation in leisure activities, including swimming (must be able to swim).
Requirements
*
At least 12 months of relevant UK care experience.
*
Confident and experienced in supporting adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
*
Able to swim and comfortable supporting swimming-related activities.
*
Comfortable working around pets (dogs and a cat - very friendly, no duties are involved and will be locked away.
*
A valid UK driving licence is preferable.
*
Flexible, reliable, and able to work full time on a rota without requiring sponsorship.
