Health & Safety Manager

Location: Surrey
Job Type: Permanent

A well-established construction-related business in Surrey is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join the team as part of a planned succession strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has either transitioned from a hands-on construction role into Health & Safety or is now looking to take that next step in their career.

The successful candidate will work closely with the current Health & Safety Manager, receiving comprehensive training and support before ultimately taking over the position. The aim is for the successful candidate to assume full responsibility for the role by the end of this year, or sooner, depending on experience and development.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and develop the company's Health & Safety function.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks.
Review, monitor and inspect Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Ensure safe working practices are implemented and maintained across all projects.
Identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
Provide support and guidance to site teams, supervisors and management.
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing reports and recommendations.
Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to Health & Safety training initiatives.
Maintain accurate Health & Safety documentation and records.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation and industry best practice.

About You

NEBOSH qualification (General Certificate or higher).
Previous construction industry experience.
Experience reviewing and inspecting RAMS.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site compliance.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Full UK driving licence.

What's on Offer

Permanent, long-term position.
Structured training and mentoring from experienced Health & Safety professional.
Clear progression path into a standalone Health & Safety Manager role.
Opportunity to make a significant impact within a growing and successful business.

If you have a construction background, hold a NEBOSH qualification, and are looking for an opportunity to develop into a leadership role in Health & Safety, we would be delighted to hear from you. This is a rare opportunity to build on your practical experience and take ownership of an established Health & Safety function with full support during the transition period
