Finance Manager | Gloucester | £55,000–£65,000 + benefits
The Company
My client is a PE backed family manufacturing business
The role
This isn’t a traditional Finance Manager role focused solely on month-end reporting. My client is looking for someone who wants to build, improve and influence.
Working alongside the Finance Director, you’ll help strengthen financial control while driving better commercial insight across the business. You’ll work closely with Operations, Manufacturing and Sales to improve reporting, develop inventory visibility and help embed a more robust costing methodology that supports smarter business decisions.
If you’re someone who enjoys improving processes, challenging the status quo and making finance a true business partner, we’d love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
Financial Control:
* Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
* Own the month-end close process.
* Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
* Prepare VAT returns.
* Lead the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
* Produce weekly cash flow forecasts.
Commercial Finance
* Produce insightful sales, margin and profitability reporting.
* Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning.
* Develop KPI reporting for operational and senior management teams.
* Identify opportunities to improve profitability and working capital.
Inventory & Costing:
One of our key priorities is improving inventory management and product costing.
You’ll work alongside the Finance Director and operational teams to:
* Develop meaningful inventory reporting.
* Improve stock controls and reporting accuracy.
* Support implementation of an enhanced costing methodology.
* Analyse product profitability and manufacturing performance.
Continuous Improvement:
We’re looking for someone who enjoys making things better.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
* Improve finance processes.
* Support automation and reporting improvements.
* Enhance management information.
* Help build a finance function capable of supporting the next stage of business growth.
Your profile
* ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or qualified by experience with strong relevant experience).
* Experienced within manufacturing, distribution or another product-based business.
* Commercially curious and naturally analytical.
* Comfortable working with colleagues outside Finance.
* Confident improving processes rather than simply maintaining them.
* Someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves in a growing SME environment.
Experience of inventory accounting, product costing or ERP systems would be a significant advantage.
