While we are primarily seeking an individual with a strong background in netball, we would be particularly interested in candidates who can also contribute to the wider delivery of our major games and sports programme.

Our girls’ sports provision has grown significantly over the past two years, with an expanding programme of training sessions and fixtures taking place after school and at weekends. Alongside this, we offer a thriving and well-supported co-curricular sports programme, providing pupils with a wide range of opportunities to participate and excel.

Working closely with the Director of Sport, the successful candidate will play an important role in the continued development and success of the girls’ sports programme.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

* Recent and relevant coaching experience with young people, ideally within a school environment.

* A reflective coaching approach, with consistently high expectations of themselves and the pupils they work with.

* The ability to inspire and engage young people while acting as a positive role model for healthy exercise, well being and lifestyle.

* Energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for increasing both participation and performance across a range of sports.

* Initiative in identifying opportunities to enhance the school's sporting provision.

* A positive, solution-focused approach and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.

* A good sense of humour and the ability to remain calm, professional and effective under pressure.

* An understanding of, and commitment to, the school's aims and values.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Job Specification

The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

* Working collaboratively with the Director of Sport and sports leads to ensure the highest standards of games provision.

* Organising fixtures as directed by the Director of Sport.

* Leading and supporting the delivery of the girls’ afternoon games programme.

* Taking responsibility for coaching school teams and delivering individual sporting activities.

* Contributing to the continued growth of the co-curricular sports programme through both leadership and support of activities.

* Planning and delivering enjoyable, engaging and age-appropriate coaching sessions across a range of year groups.

* Demonstrating the willingness and ability to deliver coaching sessions outside of their primary specialism when required.

* Supporting the Director of Sport and fellow coaches in fostering a culture that values both participation and performance.

* Making a full contribution to the co-curricular programme, enhancing sporting opportunities for both boys and girls across the school.

* As a boarding school, the role requires flexibility and a willingness to work after school, and on some evenings and weekends, by prior arrangement.

* Promoting Old Swinford Hospital sport positively within the local community and beyond.

* Undertaking any other duties that may reasonably be required from time to time.

Hours and Remuneration

This is a zero hour contract - hours for afternoon games programme, after-school coaching, co-curricular sport and competitive fixtures.
