Service Technician – Industrial Machinery

Full-time | Permanent

Salary: £40,000–£50,000 + Overtime + International Travel

Location: Cheltenham (with regular UK & international travel)

We're recruiting for an innovative engineering company that designs and manufactures specialist industrial automation and inspection systems supplied to customers worldwide.

Due to continued growth, they're looking for a hands-on Service Technician to support the assembly, installation, commissioning and servicing of bespoke machinery across the UK and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, splitting their time between the workshop and customer sites, working with advanced manufacturing technology.

The Role

As a Service Technician, you'll play a key role in the assembly, testing, installation and ongoing support of bespoke industrial machinery. Working closely with the engineering team, you'll ensure equipment is delivered, commissioned and maintained to the highest standards while providing first-class customer support.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with the final assembly of bespoke industrial machinery.

* Test, calibrate and prepare equipment prior to customer installation.

* Install, commission and service machinery at customer sites across the UK and internationally.

* Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and process-related faults.

* Carry out preventative maintenance and repair work.

* Deliver operator training during machine handovers.

* Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site.

* Complete service documentation and technical reports.

* Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve product reliability.

* Maintain high standards of Health & Safety during workshop and site activities.

About You

We're looking for a practical engineer with strong fault-finding skills who enjoys solving technical problems and working directly with customers.

Skills & Experience

* Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician, Maintenance Engineer or Commissioning Engineer.

* Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability.

* Experience working on industrial machinery or manufacturing equipment.

* Knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery and HMI interfaces.

* Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical engineering drawings.

* Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

* Strong communication and customer service skills.

* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

* Full UK driving licence.

* Willingness to travel internationally.

Desirable

* Experience within plastics extrusion, converting or manufacturing environments.

* Previous commissioning or field service experience.

* Knowledge of automation, robotics or vision inspection systems.
