Anderson Knight are working with a leading utilities business based in Coventry, They are seeking an experienced and highly organised Plant Transport Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, compliance, and operational performance of our fleet, plant, and transport division.

The successful candidate will have a strong background within the Civils, Utilities, or Infrastructure sectors and possess extensive knowledge of fleet management, HGV operations, operator licence compliance, workshops, garages, and plant equipment maintenance.

This role is responsible for ensuring all company vehicles, plant, and equipment are safe, compliant, fully serviced, and operational at all times. You will lead and supervise a team of approximately 10 staff across transport, workshop, and plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the transport, workshop, and plant department.
• Ensure full compliance with all HGV Operator Licence requirements, DVSA regulations, and transport legislation.
• Oversee the maintenance, servicing, inspections, and repairs of all fleet vehicles and plant equipment.
• Ensure all vehicles and plant are safe, roadworthy, compliant, and available for operational use.
• Manage a varied fleet including: HGV vehicles, Vans and commercial vehicles, Diggers and excavators, Dumpers, HVAC plant and specialist equipment & General plant and machinery
• Coordinate scheduled servicing, MOT preparation, LOLER inspections, and defect rectification.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation, and service schedules.
• Liaise with external suppliers, service providers, and regulatory bodies.
• Monitor fleet utilisation, downtime, and operational costs.
• Implement and maintain health & safety procedures across workshop and transport operations.
• Conduct regular vehicle and plant audits and inspections.
• Manage breakdown response and recovery processes.
• Supervise, support, and develop a team of approximately 10 workshop, transport, and plant staff.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping, safety, and operational efficiency within the workshop and yard environment.
• Support operational planning to ensure plant and transport resources meet business demands.

Required Experience & Skills
• Proven experience in a Plant Transport Manager, Fleet Manager, Transport Manager, or similar role.
• Strong background within Civils, Utilities, Construction, or Infrastructure sectors.
• Extensive knowledge of: Fleet management, HGV operations, Operator Licence compliance, Workshop and garage management & Plant and equipment maintenance
• Experience managing mixed fleets and heavy plant machinery.
• Strong understanding of DVSA regulations and transport compliance requirements.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Experience supervising and managing teams.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple operational demands.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Competent with maintenance scheduling and fleet management systems.

Desirable Qualifications
• CPC National/International Transport Manager qualification.
• IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification.
• Mechanical or engineering background.
• Experience within utility infrastructure projects.
