We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team, supporting the Financial Controller with the day-to-day running of the accounts function.
This is a varied role covering purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across all aspects of transactional finance. You'll be a confident communicator who can build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies
Reconcile supplier statements
Assist with supplier payment runs
Respond to supplier queries in a professional and timely manner
Sales Ledger
Raise customer invoices and credit notes
Send customer statements
Manage customer account queries
Upload invoices via customer portals and external systems
Support the timely collection of outstanding payments
Credit Control
Post daily receipts and allocate cash
Take card payments
Chase overdue debts and maintain customer accounts
Monitor aged debt and place accounts on hold where necessary
General Duties
Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers
Manage finance inboxes and incoming correspondence
Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc finance duties
Ensure all financial information is handled confidentially
Assist with administrative duties as required
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Accounts Administrator role
Experience of sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control activities
Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures
Strong Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively
Positive and proactive approach to work
