We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking School Caretaker to join one of our Schools team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment where children, staff, and visitors can thrive.

As the face of the site, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school buildings and grounds are well maintained, secure, clean, and compliant with health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Open and close the school site each day, ensuring buildings are secure.

* Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general DIY tasks.

* Monitor the condition of the school buildings, reporting and responding to maintenance issues promptly.

* Maintain the school grounds to a high standard, including litter picking, basic gardening, and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe.

* Undertake regular health and safety checks, including fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, and site inspections.

* Support contractors working on site and monitor completed works.

* Set up halls, classrooms, and outdoor spaces for assemblies, events, examinations, and lettings.

* Monitor heating, lighting, water systems, and other site services to ensure efficient operation.

* Manage deliveries and assist with moving furniture and equipment when required.

* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and statutory regulations.

* Respond appropriately to emergencies and out-of-hours issues where necessary.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

* Has previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management experience (school experience is desirable but not essential).

* Is practical, organised, and able to carry out a range of maintenance tasks.

* Has a good understanding of health and safety legislation.

* Can work independently while also being a valued member of a team.

* Is dependable, flexible, and takes pride in maintaining high standards.

* Has excellent communication and customer service skills.

* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
