Salary: £100-£160 per day (dependent on experience)
Are you passionate about Science and looking to take the next step into a classroom-based career in education? Do you have the confidence to engage young people and support learning in a secondary school environment?
We are working in partnership with a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Northampton that is seeking an Unqualified Science Teacher to join their team from September 2026. The school is ideally looking to appoint on a permanent basis, although fixed-term and long-term supply arrangements will also be considered for the right candidate.
This role is ideal for a Science graduate, Cover Supervisor, Instructor, Tutor, or aspiring teacher who is looking to gain valuable classroom experience while developing the skills needed to progress into qualified teaching.
The Role
Deliver pre-planned Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 using departmental resources
Support learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Adapt activities to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
Monitor student progress and provide feedback where appropriate
Work closely with the Science department to support effective curriculum delivery
Contribute to wider school life and engage in ongoing training and development
The Ideal Candidate
Strong subject knowledge in Science, ideally supported by a Science-related degree or qualification
Experience working with young people in a school, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or youth work setting
Confident in leading a classroom and managing groups of students
Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
A genuine passion for education and helping young people succeed
Ambitious and keen to progress towards teacher training or gaining QTS
