Energy Modeller/Building Physics Consultant
Surrey (Hybrid Working)
£40,000–£45,000 + Benefits
Are you passionate about sustainable building design and using simulation to create high-performing, low-carbon buildings?
We're looking for an Energy Modeller / Building Physics Consultant to join a growing sustainability team delivering innovative projects across the residential, commercial, education and mixed-use sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical modelling skills who wants to make a real impact on the performance and environmental credentials of buildings from concept through to completion.
The Role
Working alongside sustainability consultants, MEP engineers and architects, you'll be responsible for delivering building performance analysis that informs design decisions and supports compliance with current environmental standards.
Typical responsibilities include:
Producing dynamic thermal modelling (TM52, TM54 and TM59 assessments)
Carrying out Part L compliance modelling using IES VE
Undertaking overheating, daylight and energy performance analysis
Supporting NABERS UK, BREEAM, LETI and net zero carbon strategies
Developing operational energy assessments and building performance reports
Working closely with design teams to optimise energy efficiency and occupant comfort
Contributing to low-carbon design strategies from early concept stagesAbout You
We're looking for someone who has:
Experience in building physics or energy modelling within a consultancy environment
Proficiency in IES VE (essential)
Good understanding of UK Building Regulations Part L
Knowledge of TM52, TM54 and TM59 methodologies
Experience producing technical reports and presenting findings to clients
A degree in Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Design or a related discipline
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
A genuine passion for sustainable building designDesirable experience includes:
BREEAM, NABERS UK or Whole Life Carbon assessments
Passivhaus principles
Apache HVAC modelling
Python, Grasshopper or other data analysis toolsWhat's on Offer?
Salary of £40,000–£45,000 depending on experience
