Fortress Recruit is now looking for a talented Senior Electronics Design Engineer to work remotely for a leading defence engineering business in Dorset.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development, enhancement, and future evolution of complex electronic products used within highly regulated and demanding industries. Working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you'll play a key role in taking products from concept through to production while helping shape future generations of established technologies.

You'll be encouraged to challenge conventional thinking, investigate emerging technologies, and develop practical engineering solutions that improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and long-term supportability.

Key responsibilities:

* Designing and developing electronic hardware from concept through to production

* Producing electrical schematics, technical documentation, engineering test plans, and bills of materials

* Supporting the redevelopment and enhancement of existing products while identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement

* Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful product integration and delivery

* Supporting prototype development, validation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical reviews throughout the product lifecycle

* Liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to understand technical requirements and provide engineering support

* Contributing to engineering best practice and continuous improvement initiatives across the wider business

* Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers where appropriate

To be considered for this role, you'll have:

* Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience

* Proven experience in electronic hardware design and product development

* Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics

* Experience working across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to manufacture and ongoing product support

* Experience using electronic CAD software such as Altium would be advantageous

* An understanding of testing, validation, product compliance, and design verification

* A naturally curious approach with a passion for solving engineering problems and developing innovative technical solutions

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

* Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement)
