Rapid Personnel are looking for an experienced Multi-Wickman Setter / Operator to join our client's busy manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, producing precision-engineered components.
A Multi-Wickman Setter is responsible for setting, operating, and maintaining Wickman multi-spindle machines used in high-volume production of precision components. The role involves tooling setup, machine adjustments, and ensuring consistent product quality while meeting production targets.
Responsibilities
*
Set up and operate Wickman multi-spindle machines for production runs
*
Install and align tooling, cams, and attachments according to engineering drawings
*
Adjust machine settings to achieve optimal performance and cycle times
*
Monitor production output to ensure components meet quality standards
*
Perform inspections using measuring equipment (micrometres, verniers, gauges)
*
Diagnose and resolve machine faults, tooling issues, and production problems
*
Work closely with quality and engineering teams to improve processes
*
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Wickman setter/operator or similar multi-spindle role
* Strong understanding of mechanical cam-operated machines
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Skilled in using precision measuring instruments
* Knowledge of materials, tooling, and cutting processes
* Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* Apprenticeship or formal training in mechanical engineering or manufacturing
* Experience in high-volume production environments
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
Hours & Pay
* Monday to Thursday
* 11 hour shift, 7:30 to 18:30
* £23 to £25 per hour DOE
* Potential for changes in shift pattern in the future
* Immediate start date
