Mechanical Design Engineer

£40,000 - £50,000 + standard benefits
The Company
Our client designs and manufactures bespoke mechanical engineering solutions for critical environments, supporting sectors including healthcare, data centres, hospitality and commercial infrastructure. They serve a host of commercial and industrial businesses, having secured multi-year partnerships to stabilise their continued growth. Their multiple revenue streams with major players in the market saw them reach £30M turnover and almost 200 UK staff.
They are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with immediate effect.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of bespoke design projects from initial enquiry through to final design approval, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, to specification and ready for manufacture. Key responsibilities include:
Leading concept generation, product development and detailed mechanical design using Autodesk Inventor.
Producing 3D models, engineering drawings, GAs, fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials.
Supporting design reviews, feasibility studies and technical decision-making.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Operations and Procurement to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.
Acting as the technical lead on assigned projects and mentoring junior engineers.
Supporting continuous improvement, R&D activities and customer, supplier and site meetings where required.
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need:
Experienced with 3D CAD (any major platform) and a solid understanding of 3D design principles
Proven experience designing multi-component products or assemblies
Collaborative approach with good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, production and procurement teams
Interest in developing both a product and personally
