Job Title: Transport Clerk
Location: Wakefield, WF6
Hours: Full time, Sunday to Thursday, 14:00pm – 22:00pm, 37 hours per week
Contract: Long-term temporary assignment with potential for permanent placement
We are currently recruiting for a Transport Clerk to join a busy transport office based in Wakefield. This is a fast-paced role supporting daily transport operations within a drinks logistics environment.
The successful candidate will be organised, reliable, and confident working in a busy operational setting. The ability to work independently and make decisions when required is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Booking out drivers at the start of shift and issuing driver packs, including delivery notes and run sheets generated from the ESP system
Monitoring driver progress throughout the day, recording any delays or issues, and communicating updates to Customer Services to ensure customers are kept informed
Logging vehicle and trailer defects and reporting these to maintenance providers, ensuring the Axcend system is accurately updated
Completing driver debriefs on return using the ESP system and ensuring all paperwork, including PODs, is correctly processed and filed
Candidate Requirements:
Previous experience within transport, logistics, or a similar fast-paced operational environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with drivers and internal departments
Able to work using own initiative and manage workload effectively
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
