Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in St Peter's Quarter, Derby from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous SEND experience who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. You will support pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide consistent, tailored support that enables every child to thrive both academically and socially.

The school is looking for someone who is patient, proactive and confident building positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

About the Role

Working as part of an experienced SEND team, your responsibilities will include:

* Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
* Supporting children with ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language Needs and other learning difficulties
* Delivering targeted interventions to support academic progress and emotional development
* Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
* Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interactions
* Supporting behaviour using positive reinforcement and consistent routines
* Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo and external professionals
* Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to individual support plans where appropriate

Ideal Candidate Profile

* Previous experience supporting children with SEND (essential)
* Good understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or Speech & Language difficulties
* Confident working on both a 1:1 basis and with small intervention groups
* Calm, patient and resilient with a nurturing approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Passionate about inclusive education and committed to a long-term role
