Service Delivery Manager - Project Delivery Lead (200lw) – Defence & IT Security - UK Remote – £60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits
Are you the person everyone turns to when something needs organising and delivering? Have you spent your career coordinating people, solving problems, managing competing priorities and keeping projects moving when others are losing sight of the objective? If so, we'd like to hear from you.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
We're recruiting on behalf of an established UK defence technology company that's growing rapidly and delivering increasingly complex programmes across Defence and National Security.
This isn't a role where you'll inherit a polished PMO and spend your day updating spreadsheets.
It's a role for someone who enjoys rolling their sleeves up, taking ownership and making things happen.
You'll work directly with the Head of Delivery, taking ownership of multiple customer projects from initiation through to successful delivery. One minute you'll be chairing a customer meeting, the next you'll be coordinating technical teams, managing project risks, removing delivery blockers or helping shape a better way of working.
The business is growing quickly, so you'll also can help build and mature the delivery function rather than simply operate within it. The client is far more interested in how you operate than what your current job title says.
You'll probably have experience in - Project delivery - Service delivery – Operations - Technical programme support - Military capability delivery - Defence engineering or technology programmes
Whether your background is as a Yeoman of Signals, WO2, experienced Staff Sergeant or an equivalent leadership appointment, we'd be keen to speak with you.
You'll be responsible for:
Delivering multiple customer projects.
Managing risks, issues and project plans.
Coordinating engineers, architects and technical consultants.
Leading customer project meetings.
Producing project documentation and reporting.
Building trusted customer relationships.
Supporting bids and future delivery planning where required.
Projects typically range from around £70k to £1m+, with responsibility for several running concurrently.
You're someone who - Keeps projects moving - Builds confidence with customers - Brings calm when situations become busy - Creates order where there isn't much structure - Gets things done.
Essential Experience
Experience delivering projects or programmes.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Excellent organisation and communication.
Understanding of project governance, risks and delivery.
Experience working with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
Comfortable working in Defence or secure environments.
A formal project management qualification would be beneficial but isn't essential if you've developed strong delivery experience through your career.
This is an opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth.
You'll have the chance to influence how delivery is done, work alongside experienced technical teams and genuinely shape the future of the delivery function.
Location: Home-based with occasional travel (typically 1–2 days per month).
Security Clearance: Current SC clearance, or eligibility to obtain SC clearance, is required.
Please send a copy of your CV with a note outlining why this would be the ideal opportunity for you to Liz Walsh at Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd
