About the Role
Technical Partners is recruiting for an experienced Principal Engineer on behalf of a leading engineering and technology organisation.
This senior leadership role will see you leading the design, integration, and delivery of advanced control systems across complex, safety-critical projects within the gas and wider energy sector. You'll take ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and acting as a key client interface.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and integration of complex control systems
Oversee testing, validation, commissioning, and project handover
Produce and approve technical documentation and specifications
Manage technical delivery, project resources, budgets, and risks
Lead technical reviews and resolve engineering challenges
Act as the primary technical contact for clients
Mentor and develop engineering teams
Support bids and tenders with technical input and approvals
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and engineering standards
Collaborate with software, hardware, manufacturing, and project teams
About You
You'll have:
At least 7 years' experience in systems engineering, control systems, hardware, or electrical design
Experience delivering projects within regulated industries such as gas, energy, nuclear, utilities, or industrial manufacturing
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems
Experience managing full project lifecycles, including commissioning
A solid understanding of systems integration, quality standards, and client delivery
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
