Full-Time
Engineering Manager

Location: Wrexham

Salary: £55,000 + Benefits

Hours: Monday-Friday | 8:00am-4:00pm

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer at a pivotal point in its journey.

Following significant investment from its international parent company, the business has recently installed bespoke, state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment that has been purpose-built overseas. As these new production lines are commissioned, the Engineering Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of the engineering function.

This isn't a role for someone who simply keeps the plant running. The business is looking for a leader who can drive change, develop people and build a proactive engineering culture that supports future growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead the engineering function across a busy 24/7 manufacturing operation.

You'll have direct responsibility for an Engineering Supervisor and a team of approximately eight multi-skilled engineers, ensuring the department is equipped to support a modern, high-volume manufacturing environment.

A key part of your role will be developing the capability of the team, coaching, mentoring and empowering engineers to take ownership of plant performance, problem-solving and continuous improvement. Rather than being the person who fixes every breakdown, you'll build a culture where your team has the skills, confidence and support to do so themselves.

Working closely with Production and other departments, you'll develop engineering strategy, improve equipment reliability and help maximise the return on the company's significant investment in new, bespoke manufacturing technology.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead an Engineering Supervisor and a team of approximately eight multi-skilled engineers supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

* Develop engineering capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.

* Drive the transition from preventative maintenance towards a more predictive and reliability-focused maintenance strategy.

* Develop engineering KPIs, systems and processes aligned with business objectives.

* Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.

* Support capital investment projects and the successful commissioning of new equipment.

* Work collaboratively with Production and Operations to maximise plant availability and minimise downtime.

* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and engineering standards.

* Manage engineering resources, contractors and external suppliers.

About You

We're looking for an Engineering Manager who enjoys developing people as much as improving machinery.

You'll ideally have:

* Previous experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing environment.

* Strong multi-skilled engineering knowledge across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.

* Experience working in high-volume manufacturing, packaging, automation, FMCG, logistics or similar environments.

* A coaching leadership style with a passion for developing engineers rather than being the person who fixes every breakdown.

* Experience driving continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Kaizen methodologies.

* Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.

* HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

What's on Offer

* Salary circa £55,000.

* Monday-Friday working hours (8:00am-4:00pm).

* 25 days holiday.

* 6% employer pension contribution.

* Medicash healthcare.

A rare opportunity to lead an engineering function during a major period of investment and transformation.

Genuine autonomy to influence engineering strategy, develop people and implement lasting improvements
