About the Role:
We are an established civil engineering and structures contractor currently seeking an experienced, time-served Shuttering Joiner to join our team for a major development in the Newcastle area.
We have a secured, continuous pipeline of heavy civil engineering and RC frame projects, allowing us to offer genuine long-term contract work with excellent weekly hours. If you are highly productive, reliable, and used to the fast pace of major structures and groundwork sites, we want you on board.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Working closely with site engineers and concrete gangs, you will be responsible for setting out and constructing heavy concrete formwork. Your daily tasks will include:
System Formwork: Erecting, striking, and maintaining heavy modular systems such as DOKA, PERI, and RMD panels.
Traditional Shuttering: Fabricating and constructing traditional timber "tube and fitting" shuttering on site from detailed structural blueprints.
Pour & Prep: Fixing anchor boxes, water-bars, hold-down bolts, and fabricating structural timber bulkheads ready for major concrete pours.
Precision Execution: Reading and working accurately from structural drawings to ensure correct dimensions, straight alignments, and perfectly watertight finishes before concrete is poured.
Candidate Requirements:
To be successful in this position, you must possess:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated site experience as a Shuttering Joiner within an RC Frame, groundwork, or heavy civil engineering environment.
Credentials: Must hold a valid CSCS Card (Blue Skilled Worker card minimum; Gold/Black supervisor cards highly welcome) and a valid UTR number for CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) registration.
Tools & PPE: Must have a full inventory of your own professional hand tools and 110v/cordless power tools suitable for heavy formwork, along with standard site PPE.
Work Ethic: Strong focus on health and safety protocols, punctuality, and the ability to maintain high output without dropping quality.
