An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Design Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business developing innovative products for commercial applications.

This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in product development, 3D CAD and manufacturing who enjoys taking products from concept through to production. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you'll be involved in the full product development lifecycle, contributing to both new product introduction (NPI) and the continuous improvement of existing products.

If you're looking for a technically challenging role where your ideas can directly influence product performance and future development, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career.

The Role

As a Product Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of new and existing products.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks

* Producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation.

* Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through to production.

* Developing practical, cost-effective design solutions that meet customer and manufacturing requirements.

* Working closely with manufacturing, procurement and commercial teams during product development.

* Producing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).

* Supporting prototype development, product testing and validation activities.

* Identifying opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction and enhanced manufacturability.

* Applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the design process.

* Investigating new materials, technologies and manufacturing methods to support future product development.

About You

We're looking for a motivated engineer with a passion for product design and continuous improvement.

You'll ideally have:

* Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Design Engineering or a related discipline.

* Experience using SolidWorks or another 3D CAD package such as Creo, Inventor, Siemens NX or Solid Edge.

* Experience designing products for manufacture within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

* Understanding of sheet metal, fabricated components, plastic mouldings or mechanical assemblies.

* Knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T and manufacturing processes.

* Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or product development projects.

* Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

* Excellent communication and organisational skills.

* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Knowledge of electrical design or electromechanical products would be advantageous but is not essential.

What's on Offer

* Competitive salary.

* Company pension.

* Ongoing technical training and professional development.

* Opportunity to work on innovative product development projects.

* Supportive engineering environment.

* Exposure to the full product development lifecycle.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering business where innovation, technical excellence and continuous improvement are central to the way products are developed.

You'll work on a diverse range of projects, gain exposure to every stage of the design process and play a key role in bringing new engineering solutions to market.
