Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN school located in Wakefield.

This school is part of a large and well-established multi-academy trust and is recognised for its nurturing, trauma-informed approach to supporting children with complex and high-level special educational needs. The school provides a structured, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop both academically and emotionally.

They are seeking an HLTA who can take a leading role in supporting learning, delivering planned sessions, and working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent, high-quality provision.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, leading small group interventions, and supporting pupils with complex needs in both classroom and 1:1 settings.

You will also work closely with teaching staff to adapt resources, support behaviour strategies, and contribute to the overall learning and development of pupils.

We're Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who have:

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
SEN experience in a school or specialist setting
Backgrounds in education, care, nursing, or support work
Experience leading small groups or delivering interventionsThe ideal candidate will be:

Confident in leading learning activities independently
Patient, empathetic, and resilient
Experienced in supporting pupils with complex needs
Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
A strong communicator and team player

How to Achieve the Higher Pay Rate

Candidates with experience leading interventions, supporting high-need pupils, and demonstrating strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills are more likely to be considered for the higher rate.
