The below job description will outline this position of: Mechanical Fitter / Marine Engineer

Typically, this person will be responsible for carrying out mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair work across a range of marine vessels. This includes working on new build projects, refits, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with safety and quality requirements.

Duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter / Marine Engineer:

• Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems onboard vessels
• Work on new builds, refits, and vessel maintenance projects
• Strip, inspect, and rebuild mechanical components including engines, pumps, valves, and pipework
• Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensure all work is completed in line with HSE and quality standards

Qualifications and requirements for the Mechanical Fitter / Marine Engineer:

• Proven experience in a marine environment (shipyard, dockside, or onboard vessels)
• Strong mechanical fitting experience (engines, propulsion, hydraulics, or pipe systems)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship (desirable)
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices
