An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant Fitter to join a leading mineral exploration drilling contractor based in Cornwall.
Working within a busy workshop and supporting drilling operations across the UK, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of heavy plant, drilling equipment and support vehicles, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and ready for deployment.

Key Responsibilities
*
Service, maintain and repair heavy plant, drilling rigs and associated equipment.
*
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
*
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.

Inspect equipment and complete repair reports.
*
Replace and overhaul engines, transmissions, pumps and hydraulic components.
*
Carry out welding and fabrication repairs where required.
*
Ensure all equipment meets company safety standards before deployment.
*
Work closely with drilling crews to minimise equipment downtime.
*
Maintain workshop housekeeping and comply with health and safety procedures.
Essential Requirements
*
Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer or Plant Mechanic.
*
Experience working on heavy plant, construction, quarrying, mining or drilling equipment.
*
Strong hydraulic, diesel engine and mechanical fault-finding skills.
*
Ability to diagnose and repair equipment independently.
*
Full UK driving licence.
*
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
*
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
*
Experience working on drilling rigs or mineral exploration equipment.
*
Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, Atlas Copco, Sandvik or Epiroc equipment.
*
Welding or fabrication experience.
*
Electrical diagnostics.
*
LOLER inspection experience.
*
HGV licence (advantageous but not essential).
