Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Near Ipswich, Suffolk
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Benefits
Looking for more variety in your design work?
If you're spending most of your week making minor drawing changes or working on the same product over and over again, this could be a welcome change.
This is an opportunity to join a specialist engineering business designing bespoke mechanical solutions used across a variety of sectors. Every project is different, giving you the chance to take ownership of designs from concept through to manufacture and see your work brought to life.
Working closely with the senior engineering team, you'll be involved in solving real engineering challenges rather than simply producing drawings.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll use SolidWorks to create and develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bespoke engineering solutions.
You'll work alongside fabrication, machining and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable and delivered to specification, while also liaising with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll be encouraged to contribute ideas, solve problems and play an active part in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
*
Designing bespoke mechanical products and assemblies using SolidWorks.
*
Producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models.
*
Modifying and improving existing products.
*
Supporting projects from initial design through to manufacture.
*
Working closely with fabrication, machining and assembly teams.
*
Producing assembly and parts documentation.
*
Liaising with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers.
*
Ensuring designs comply with quality and manufacturing standards.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in engineers who have:
*
Experience using SolidWorks in a mechanical design environment.
*
A good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
*
Experience designing fabricated, machined or mechanical components.
*
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
*
The ability to manage their own workload while working as part of a collaborative engineering team.
Experience with hydraulic systems or electrical controls would be advantageous but isn't essential.
What's On Offer
*
Salary of £35,000 - £40,000.
*
Permanent, full-time position.
*
Early finish every Friday.
*
Varied project work across multiple engineering sectors.
*
The opportunity to work from concept through to manufacture.
*
A stable business with a long-established reputation for delivering bespoke engineering solutions.
*
A supportive engineering environment where your ideas and designs have a genuine impact.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be involved in interesting engineering projects rather than repetitive design work, we'd be keen to tell you more
