Transport Supervisor required in Cheltenham. Salary: £35,000 - £45,000, Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, Contract: Permanent Opportunity, immediate start available.
Pertemps are recruiting for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join a growing business in Cheltenham. This is an excellent opportunity for a transport professional looking to take ownership of daily transport operations, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with all legal and compliance requirements. Working closely with senior management, you will be responsible for coordinating vehicle movements, managing drivers and subcontractors, maintaining fleet compliance, and driving continuous improvements across transport operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high service standards while supporting the ongoing development of the transport function. Supported by a Transport Coordinator on-site, you will lead the Transport function from a Cheltenham perspective, working closely with the Head of Transport based in Staffordshire to manage the local fleet and drive operational excellence.
Key Duties
Overseeing the daily scheduling and routing of vehicles to maximise efficiency.
Managing and monitoring employed drivers and subcontracted transport providers.
Acting as a key point of contact for drivers and stakeholders across the wider business.
Building strong working relationships across departments and providing effective, solution-focused support on transport matters.
Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, company policies, and health & safety requirements.
Coordinating deliveries and collections to meet operational requirements.
Liaising with customers and resolving transport-related issues.
Managing vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repairs.
Maintaining transport records, driver documentation, and performance reports.
Monitoring KPIs and implementing operational improvements where required.
Reviewing and streamlining transport processes to improve efficiency and enhance service levels.
Producing reports on fleet utilisation, transport performance, and costs.What We're Looking For
Previous experience within a Transport Supervisor, Transport Planner, or Logistics Supervisor role.
Strong planning background with experience managing transport operations.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the business.
A proactive, solution-focused approach and the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive positive change.
Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and identifying more efficient ways of working.
Strong understanding of transport compliance, fleet operations, and route planning.
Experience managing drivers and transport teams.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Experience using transport management systems and Microsoft Office packages.
Full UK Driving Licence.
CPC qualification is desirable but not essential.
HGV, CPC, or Transport Manager CPC qualifications would be advantageous.Working Hours
Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
