I'm currently working with a well-established structural engineering consultancy based in Hemel Hempstead that is looking to appoint a Graduate Structural Engineer to join its growing team.
With a strong reputation across the residential sector, the business delivers a broad range of projects including bespoke residential properties, large-scale housing developments, apartment schemes, and mixed-use developments for a loyal and expanding client base. Continued growth has created an excellent opportunity for an ambitious graduate looking to kick-start their career within a supportive, social and collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers on projects from concept through to completion, gaining hands-on experience across all stages of the design process. You'll receive structured mentoring and support while developing the technical and practical skills needed to build a successful career in structural engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the design of structural solutions for residential and mixed-use developments
Producing structural calculations, drawings and technical reports under the guidance of senior engineers
Supporting the delivery of projects from concept through to construction
Attending client and design team meetings
Working closely with architects, contractors and other consultants
Carrying out site visits and inspections to gain practical construction experience
Developing your knowledge of UK design standards, engineering software and industry best practice
Working towards professional accreditation with full Chartership support
Project Portfolio
You'll gain exposure to a variety of schemes including:
Residential developments
Housing and apartment schemes
High-end private residential projects
Extensions and refurbishments
Mixed-use developments
Occasional commercial and education projects
Requirements
A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or due to graduate this year)
A genuine interest in building structures and structural design
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication and organisational skills
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Experience with structural design software would be beneficial but is not essential
Ambition to work towards Chartership in the future
