Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established residential contractor delivering a high-quality development of eight new build houses in Slough.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career with a supportive commercial team. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, working closely with an experienced Quantity Surveyor while taking on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.

The Role

Working as part of the commercial team, you will assist with the financial management of a live residential development, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

You'll be involved in cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, valuations and reporting, while developing a strong understanding of residential construction and commercial practices.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the commercial management of an eight-unit new build housing development.
Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets and financial reports.
Assist with procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare and issue subcontract documentation.
Measure works and assist with valuations and variations.
Monitor project costs and identify potential cost savings.
Process subcontractor applications and payments.
Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation.
Attend site meetings and liaise with site management, subcontractors and suppliers.
Support the preparation of monthly cost value reconciliations.
Ensure commercial procedures and contractual requirements are followed.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee Quantity Surveyor role.
Experience within residential construction or housebuilding is desirable.
A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or currently studying towards one).
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
