School Behaviour Mentor - Southeast London
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive school in Southeast London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional, or pastoral support, helping them to engage positively in school life and reach their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to students.
Support pupils in managing their behaviour and developing positive relationships.
Encourage positive attitudes towards learning, attendance, and personal development.
Work alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to implement behaviour support strategies.
Help de-escalate challenging situations using a calm and supportive approach.
Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents where appropriate.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, or in a similar support role is highly desirable.
Experience mentoring or supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health needs is ideal.
Strong communication, resilience, and relationship-building skills.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to different situations.
A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.
